Job Brief

As a Dance Director, you will lead the creative vision and execution of dance performances by designing innovative routines and staging presentations. This role requires a deep understanding of various dance styles, strong leadership skills, and experience in choreography. The ideal candidate has a passion for dance, proven experience in directing performances, and the ability to inspire and motivate dancers to reach their full potential.

Responsibilities

  • Create and develop original dance routines across various styles, ensuring alignment with performance themes.
  • Direct rehearsals, providing constructive feedback and guidance to dancers to enhance their skills and performance quality.
  • Stage presentations, coordinating with technical teams to ensure seamless execution of lighting, sound, and set design.
  • Collaborate with choreographers, musicians, and other artists to integrate music and movement harmoniously.
  • Evaluate dancer performances and adjust choreography to enhance overall production value.
  • Organize auditions and cast dancers for productions based on skills and suitability.
  • Maintain a safe and supportive environment for dancers, encouraging creativity and expression.
  • Stay updated on current trends in dance and performance art to incorporate innovative techniques and styles into routines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Dance, Choreography, Performing Arts, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Dance Director or similar role in a professional setting.
  • Strong proficiency in various dance styles, including ballet, contemporary, jazz, and hip-hop.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse group of dancers.
  • Experience in staging and directing performances, with knowledge of stage management processes.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends for rehearsals and performances.
  • Familiarity with dance notation and teaching methodologies is a plus.
  • Strong leadership qualities and organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
