Job Brief
The Tobacco Drier Operator is responsible for operating and tending to equipment used in the drying, roasting, and baking of tobacco products. This role requires a deep understanding of various drying methods, including kiln drying and vacuum drying, to ensure optimal quality and consistency of the final product. Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor food and tobacco drying equipment, including kiln driers, hearth ovens, and vacuum drying systems.
- Adjust equipment settings to meet product specifications and achieve desired moisture levels.
- Conduct regular maintenance and troubleshooting of drying equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
- Follow safety protocols and quality control measures to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
- Record and analyze production data, adjusting processes as necessary to improve efficiency and product quality.
- Collaborate with production teams to coordinate drying schedules and manage workflow effectively.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company standards for food safety and product handling.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant vocational training or certification in food processing or related field preferred.
- Proven experience as a Tobacco Drier Operator or in a similar role within the food processing industry.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot drying equipment.
- Knowledge of quality control standards and food safety regulations related to tobacco processing.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with production data analysis and record-keeping practices.
