Job Brief

As an Environmental Geologist, you will analyze the Earth’s composition, structure, and physical properties to address environmental challenges related to natural resources and waste management. You will utilize your expertise in geology, physics, and mathematics to conduct studies for exploration of oil, gas, minerals, and underground water, as well as to develop strategies for land reclamation and waste disposal. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, proficiency in geological software, and a commitment to sustainable practices.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct geological surveys and field studies to collect data on the Earth’s physical properties.
  • Analyze soil, rock, and water samples to assess environmental conditions and resource availability.
  • Utilize geological modeling software to interpret data and create geological maps.
  • Assess environmental impact and develop mitigation strategies for land reclamation projects.
  • Collaborate with environmental engineers and other professionals to address complex geological issues.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations for stakeholders and regulatory agencies.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and advancements in geoscience technologies.
  • Participate in community outreach and education regarding geological and environmental issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Proven experience in geological fieldwork and laboratory analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of geological mapping techniques and software (e.g., ArcGIS, GeoGraphix).
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations and compliance standards.
  • Excellent analytical skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective reporting and presentations.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., Licensed Geologist) are a plus.
