Job Brief
As a Drywall Taper Helper, you will support skilled drywall tapers in applying plaster, tape, and other finishing materials to drywall surfaces. This entry-level position requires a strong willingness to learn and assist in various tasks related to drywall installation and finishing. Ideal candidates will possess basic construction knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing drywall surfaces for taping and finishing, ensuring cleanliness and readiness for application.
- Help apply tape and joint compound to seams and corners of drywall to create a smooth surface.
- Support the installation of drywall sheets in various settings, including residential and commercial projects.
- Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition and ready for use.
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment on construction sites.
- Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines and quality standards.
- Assist in measuring and cutting drywall materials as directed by lead tapers.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Basic knowledge of drywall installation and finishing techniques.
- Ability to lift heavy materials and stand for extended periods.
- Familiarity with construction tools and safety practices.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
- Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced drywall tapers.
- Previous experience in construction or a related field is a plus but not required.
