As a Court Officer, you will play a vital role in maintaining order and security within the courtroom environment. Responsibilities
- Maintain order and security within courtrooms to ensure a safe environment for judges, attorneys, and the public.
- Monitor courtroom activities and enforce courtroom rules, including the prohibition of prohibited items.
- Provide assistance to judges and court staff during proceedings to facilitate efficient operations.
- Conduct screenings of individuals entering the courthouse, ensuring compliance with security protocols.
- Respond to incidents or emergencies within the courthouse promptly, including medical emergencies or security breaches.
- Manage the movement of defendants and witnesses in and out of the courtroom, ensuring their safety and security.
- Prepare reports on incidents and maintain records related to courtroom activities and security.
- Collaborate with local law enforcement and court personnel to address security concerns and implement safety measures.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in criminal justice or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience in law enforcement, security, or a related role is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of courtroom procedures and legal terminology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with diverse groups.
- Ability to remain calm and assertive in high-pressure situations.
- Certification in first aid and CPR is a plus.
- Ability to pass background checks and meet any state licensing requirements.
- Proficiency in using security equipment and technology.
