Job Brief
As a Wind Turbine Mechanic, you will play a critical role in the renewable energy sector by inspecting, diagnosing, adjusting, and repairing wind turbines. This position requires hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, ensuring optimal performance and safety of wind turbine equipment. The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving skills and a solid understanding of wind energy technologies to effectively maintain and troubleshoot turbine operations.
Responsibilities
- Conduct regular inspections and diagnostics on wind turbines to identify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic malfunctions.
- Perform routine and emergency maintenance on wind turbine components, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Adjust and repair turbine systems, including gearboxes, generators, and hydraulic systems, to enhance operational efficiency.
- Document maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections in compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to implement improvements and upgrades to wind turbine technology.
- Respond to turbine outages and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime and maximize energy production.
- Adhere to safety protocols and best practices while working at heights and in various environmental conditions.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Wind Turbine Mechanic or in a similar role within the renewable energy sector.
- Technical diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of wind turbine operations and maintenance, including electrical and hydraulic systems.
- Relevant certifications such as OSHA, NERC, or equivalent safety training preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and manuals.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Willingness to work at heights and in diverse weather conditions.
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to various wind farm sites as needed.
