Job Brief
As a Veterinary Technologist, you will play a crucial role in animal healthcare by performing medical tests in laboratory settings to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases in animals. You will be responsible for preparing vaccines and serums, executing laboratory tests, and maintaining equipment, while ensuring the highest standards of care and safety. Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory tests such as urinalysis and blood counts to aid in the diagnosis of animal diseases.
- Prepare vaccines and serums for the prevention of diseases in various animal species.
- Collect and process blood and tissue samples for laboratory analysis.
- Clean, sterilize, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Assist veterinarians during surgical procedures by providing necessary support and monitoring.
- Document and maintain accurate records of laboratory results and procedures.
- Educate pet owners about animal health and wellness through effective communication and support.
- Stay updated on advancements in veterinary technology and best practices in animal care.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Current certification as a Veterinary Technician (e.g., CVT, LVT, RVT) is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Proficiency in laboratory procedures and equipment maintenance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Experience in a veterinary setting is highly desirable.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
