Job Brief
As a Veterinary Technologist, you will play a crucial role in animal healthcare by performing medical tests in laboratory settings to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases in animals. Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory tests such as urinalysis and blood counts to aid in the diagnosis of animal diseases.
- Prepare vaccines and serums for the prevention of diseases in various animal species.
- Collect and process blood and tissue samples for laboratory analysis.
- Clean, sterilize, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Assist veterinarians during surgical procedures by providing necessary support and monitoring.
- Document and maintain accurate records of laboratory results and procedures.
- Educate pet owners about animal health and wellness through effective communication and support.
- Stay updated on advancements in veterinary technology and best practices in animal care.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Current certification as a Veterinary Technician (e.g., CVT, LVT, RVT) is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Proficiency in laboratory procedures and equipment maintenance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Experience in a veterinary setting is highly desirable.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
