Job Brief
Veterinary Laboratory Technicians play a crucial role in the healthcare of animals by performing medical tests and analyses to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Responsibilities
- Conduct medical tests in a laboratory environment to diagnose and treat diseases in animals.
- Prepare vaccines and serums for disease prevention in various animal species.
- Collect and prepare tissue and blood samples for laboratory analysis.
- Execute laboratory tests, including urinalysis, blood counts, and microbiological examinations.
- Clean, sterilize, and maintain laboratory instruments, materials, and equipment.
- Assist veterinarians during surgical procedures when necessary.
- Document and maintain accurate records of laboratory results and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality control protocols in the laboratory.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in veterinary technology or a related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Certification as a Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, or RVT) is highly desirable.
- Proficient in laboratory techniques and equipment used in veterinary diagnostics.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced veterinary environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, and common diseases.
- Experience with electronic medical records and laboratory information systems is a plus.
