Job Brief
We are seeking a skilled Tractor Trailer Mechanic to diagnose, adjust, repair, and overhaul diesel engines, primarily focusing on buses and trucks. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in maintaining and repairing diesel engines, with a strong understanding of automotive systems. Key skills include proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical issues, performing routine maintenance, and utilizing specialized tools and equipment. This role is essential for ensuring optimal performance and safety of commercial vehicles.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose mechanical problems using diagnostic equipment and tools.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel engines, including oil changes, brake adjustments, and tire replacements.
- Overhaul and repair diesel engines, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Inspect and test vehicle systems to identify defects or malfunctions.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs and services performed.
- Collaborate with other mechanics and technicians to ensure effective resolution of vehicle issues.
- Stay updated on the latest industry trends and advancements in diesel technology.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while working in a shop environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in diesel mechanics preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Tractor Trailer Mechanic or similar role.
- Proficient in using diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot mechanical issues.
- Strong understanding of diesel engine components and systems.
- ASE certification or similar credentials in diesel mechanics is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
