Job Brief
As a Track Patrol Officer, you will play a vital role in safeguarding railroad and transit properties, ensuring the safety of employees and passengers. This position requires a proactive individual with experience in security operations, excellent observation skills, and the ability to respond effectively to incidents. You will be responsible for monitoring tracks, reporting hazards, and upholding safety protocols to maintain a secure environment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct regular patrols of railroad and transit properties to deter criminal activity and ensure safety.
- Monitor and inspect tracks, signals, and surrounding areas for hazards or unauthorized access.
- Respond promptly to incidents, emergencies, and safety concerns, coordinating with law enforcement and emergency services as needed.
- Document and report all incidents, hazards, and maintenance needs in a clear and timely manner.
- Educate employees and passengers on safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Conduct investigations into accidents or security breaches, gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses.
- Collaborate with other departments to implement safety initiatives and improve security measures.
- Maintain knowledge of local laws and regulations related to railroad and transit operations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in security or law enforcement preferred.
- Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field is advantageous.
- Strong observation and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Certifications in first aid and CPR are a plus.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and emergency response procedures in transit environments.
