Job Brief

As a Topographer, you will play a critical role in researching, studying, and preparing detailed maps and spatial data for various purposes, including legal, social, political, educational, and design applications. This position requires proficiency in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and the ability to analyze and interpret geographic information from sources like geodetic surveys, aerial photographs, and satellite data. Ideal candidates will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and experience in designing algorithms and user interfaces for mapping systems.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive research and analysis to create accurate maps and spatial data.
  • Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for data collection, analysis, and visualization.
  • Interpret geographic data from various sources, including aerial photography and remote sensing.
  • Design and evaluate algorithms and data structures for GIS applications.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate mapping solutions into projects.
  • Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and legal regulations in mapping practices.
  • Stay updated on advancements in topographic and GIS technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Cartography, Geomatics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software and tools.
  • Strong proficiency in data analysis, mapping techniques, and spatial data interpretation.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python or R for GIS applications.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Professional certification in GIS or related field is a plus.
