Job Brief

The Family Preservation Worker plays a critical role in providing social services aimed at enhancing the social and psychological functioning of children and their families. This position involves working directly with families to improve well-being and academic performance, while also addressing issues such as adoption and foster care for children in need. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in social work or related fields, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills to support families effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support and interventions to families to improve their overall well-being and stability.
  • Develop and implement individualized service plans tailored to meet the needs of children and their families.
  • Assist parents in navigating social services, including arranging adoptions and finding suitable foster homes.
  • Collaborate with schools to address issues affecting children, such as misbehavior, truancy, and teenage pregnancy.
  • Advise teachers and school staff on supporting students’ emotional and social needs.
  • Conduct assessments to identify family strengths and areas needing improvement.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential case documentation and records.
  • Engage in community outreach and resource coordination to provide additional support for families.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in social services, family support, or child welfare.
  • Strong understanding of family dynamics and child development principles.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and community resources.
  • Familiarity with case management software and documentation practices.
  • Relevant certifications in social work or family preservation services are a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation for home visits.
