Job Brief
Hydrographic Engineers are responsible for conducting engineering tasks related to the planning, design, and oversight of construction and maintenance of various water-related infrastructures. This role requires expertise in surveying, data analysis, and the application of hydrodynamic principles to ensure the safe and efficient operation of systems including harbors, dams, pipelines, and water management systems. Ideal candidates possess strong analytical skills, a background in civil engineering or a related field, and experience with modern hydrographic survey equipment and software.
Responsibilities
- Conduct hydrographic surveys to collect and analyze data on water bodies for infrastructure development.
- Design and evaluate hydraulic structures, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and regulations.
- Oversee the construction and maintenance of water-related projects, including canals, dams, and sewage systems.
- Utilize advanced software tools for modeling and simulating water flow and sediment transport.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including environmental and civil engineers, to ensure project success.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Stay updated on industry advancements, regulations, and best practices in hydrographic engineering.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Hydrographic Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
- Proficient in hydrographic survey techniques and equipment, including GPS and sonar technology.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic modeling software such as HEC-RAS, MIKE, or similar tools.
- Familiarity with geospatial analysis and GIS software.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in hydrographic or civil engineering projects.
