Job Brief
The Horizontal Boring Mill Operator for Metal is responsible for setting up, operating, and tending to advanced drilling machines to drill, bore, ream, mill, or countersink metal or plastic workpieces. This role requires proficiency in interpreting technical blueprints and schematics, along with a solid understanding of machining processes. Responsibilities
- Set up and calibrate horizontal boring mills according to specifications and blueprints.
- Operate drilling machines to perform boring, milling, reaming, and countersinking tasks on various materials.
- Monitor machine operations to ensure compliance with safety standards and quality control measures.
- Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting of machinery to optimize performance.
- Inspect completed workpieces for accuracy and adherence to specifications using precision measuring tools.
- Collaborate with team members to improve processes and enhance overall productivity.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Document production activities and report any issues to supervisors in a timely manner.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Horizontal Boring Mill Operator or similar role in metal fabrication.
- In-depth knowledge of machining processes and tools, including CNC programming.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
- Familiarity with precision measurement instruments such as calipers and micrometers.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot machine issues effectively.
- Safety certification or training in machine operation and workplace safety.
- High attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
