Job Brief
The Head School Custodian plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students and staff within the educational institution. Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily cleaning operations and staff assignments to ensure efficient workflow.
- Implement and maintain cleaning protocols, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
- Conduct regular inspections of school facilities to identify maintenance needs and address issues promptly.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate custodial staff to ensure high performance and professional development.
- Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, ordering as needed to maintain optimal stock levels.
- Develop and enforce policies and procedures related to custodial operations and maintenance.
- Collaborate with school administration and maintenance teams to support facility projects and special events.
- Respond to emergency cleaning requests and ensure timely resolution of issues impacting school operations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in facility management or related field preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in custodial services, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Proficient in the use of cleaning equipment and chemicals, with knowledge of safe handling practices.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide staff effectively.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and best practices in workplace safety.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with staff, students, and parents.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required.
