Job Brief

The Hand Buffer is responsible for grinding, sanding, and polishing a variety of materials including metal, wood, stone, clay, plastic, and glass. Responsibilities

  • Operate hand tools and hand-held power tools to grind, sand, and polish various materials.
  • Inspect finished products to ensure a high-quality finish and adherence to specifications.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet production goals and timelines.
  • Maintain equipment and tools in good working condition, performing routine maintenance as needed.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Document and report any issues with materials or equipment to supervisors.
  • Keep work area clean and organized to promote efficiency and safety.
  • Train and mentor junior staff on finishing techniques and best practices.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in finishing techniques preferred.
  • Proven experience as a hand buffer or in a similar role within the manufacturing industry.
  • Strong knowledge of grinding, sanding, and polishing techniques and tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Proficient in the use of hand and power tools.
  • Excellent attention to detail and quality assurance skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects as required.
