Job Brief
The Gunner’s Mate M (Missiles) is responsible for targeting, firing, and maintaining advanced missile systems and torpedoes to effectively neutralize enemy positions, aircraft, and vessels. This role requires a high level of technical expertise in operating and maintaining complex weapon systems, ensuring operational readiness, and conducting preventive maintenance. Ideal candidates will have prior experience in military operations, strong problem-solving abilities, and proficiency in weapons targeting and launch computer systems.
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain missile systems and torpedoes to ensure effective targeting and firing capabilities.
- Conduct testing, inspection, and storage of munitions including missiles and torpedoes.
- Perform preventive and routine maintenance on weapons and associated equipment.
- Establish and maintain radio and wire communications for operational coordination.
- Utilize weapons targeting, firing, and launch computer systems for precision operations.
- Assist in the training of personnel on weapon systems operation and safety procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and standard operating procedures in weapon handling.
- Participate in drills and exercises to maintain combat readiness and response capabilities.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; military training in artillery or related fields preferred.
- Experience operating missile systems and torpedoes in a military environment.
- Strong understanding of preventive maintenance and troubleshooting techniques for weapon systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Familiarity with computer systems related to weapons targeting and firing processes.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team in high-pressure environments.
- Current security clearance may be required based on operational needs.
