Job Brief

As a Forest Technician, you will provide critical technical assistance in the conservation and management of soil, water, forests, and related natural resources. Your role involves compiling data on forest tracts, assisting in forest propagation, and implementing fire prevention and suppression strategies. The ideal candidate will have experience in forestry practices, strong analytical skills, and a passion for environmental conservation.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the conservation and management of forest resources, ensuring sustainability and ecological balance.
  • Compile and analyze data related to forest size, content, and condition under the guidance of foresters.
  • Conduct forest assessments and surveys to monitor health and biodiversity.
  • Train and lead forest workers in best practices for forest propagation and fire prevention.
  • Support conservation scientists in the management and improvement of rangelands and wildlife habitats.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols during fieldwork and firefighting operations.
  • Prepare reports and documentation related to forest management activities and findings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, or a related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience in forest management, conservation practices, or related technical roles.
  • Strong knowledge of ecological principles, forest ecosystems, and conservation strategies.
  • Familiarity with data collection methods, GIS technology, and forest inventory techniques.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various environmental conditions and perform physical tasks.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Wildland Firefighter) are a plus.
