Job Brief
The Engineer, Photogrammetric role involves researching, studying, and preparing high-quality maps and spatial data for various applications, including legal, social, political, educational, and design purposes. The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and demonstrate proficiency in designing and evaluating algorithms, data structures, and user interfaces for advanced mapping systems. This position requires a strong analytical mindset and the ability to collect, analyze, and interpret geographic information derived from geodetic surveys, aerial photography, and satellite data.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough research and analysis of spatial data to produce accurate maps and geographic information.
- Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to create, manage, and analyze spatial datasets.
- Design and evaluate algorithms and data structures to enhance GIS and mapping systems.
- Interpret and integrate data from various sources, including aerial photographs and satellite imagery.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project objectives are met effectively.
- Prepare technical documentation and presentations to communicate findings and methodologies.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in photogrammetry and GIS technologies.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations in all mapping and photogrammetric work.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Geomatics, Geography, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in photogrammetry and GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS, ERDAS Imagine).
- Strong analytical skills with a focus on data interpretation and spatial analysis.
- Proficiency in programming languages related to GIS (e.g., Python, R) is a plus.
- Knowledge of geodetic principles and mapping techniques.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., GISP) are advantageous.
