Job Brief
As a Horse Exerciser, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of horses through daily care and exercise. This position requires a strong understanding of equine behavior and nutrition, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience with horses, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to animal welfare.
Responsibilities
- Feed, water, and groom horses to promote their overall health and well-being.
- Exercise horses through various methods, including riding and lunging, to maintain fitness levels and improve performance.
- Monitor horses for signs of illness, distress, or behavioral issues and report any concerns to management.
- Maintain cleanliness of stables and exercise areas, including cleaning stalls and ensuring proper sanitation protocols.
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians or supervisors.
- Keep accurate records of feeding schedules, exercise routines, and health observations.
- Assist in training and handling horses for various activities and competitions.
- Collaborate with other staff members to support the overall care and management of the equine facility.
Requirements
- Previous experience working with horses, including knowledge of equine nutrition and health.
- Strong physical fitness and stamina to perform demanding tasks related to horse care and exercise.
- Ability to handle and train horses safely and effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with team members and clients.
- Basic understanding of first aid and emergency procedures for horses.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required.
- Certification in equine care or related field is a plus.
