Job Brief
As an Elevator Constructor, you will be responsible for assembling, installing, repairing, and maintaining electric or hydraulic freight and passenger elevators, escalators, and dumbwaiters. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, as well as hands-on experience in the elevator construction industry. Ideal candidates will possess excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Responsibilities
- Assemble, install, and test various types of elevators, escalators, and dumbwaiters to meet safety and operational standards.
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections to ensure optimal functionality and safety compliance.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues in elevator systems.
- Repair or replace defective components and systems, utilizing industry-standard tools and techniques.
- Collaborate with engineers and contractors to identify project requirements and specifications.
- Document work performed and maintain accurate records of repairs and installations.
- Adhere to local and national safety codes, regulations, and best practices in elevator construction and maintenance.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an apprenticeship program in elevator construction preferred.
- Proven experience as an Elevator Constructor or in a similar role within the construction or maintenance industry.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic and electric elevator systems and components.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance standards in the elevator industry.
- Excellent mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to various job sites as needed.
- Certification from a recognized elevator industry organization is a plus.
