Job Brief

As a Drama Therapist, you will utilize creative arts therapies to promote emotional, psychological, and social well-being in patients within healthcare settings such as hospitals, nursing homes, and rehabilitation centers. This role involves planning and coordinating medically-approved recreational programs, including dramatics, crafts, and social activities, tailored to meet the diverse needs of patients. Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized drama therapy programs based on patient assessments and therapeutic goals.
  • Facilitate group and individual sessions that incorporate creative expression through drama and performance art.
  • Assess patient conditions and recommend appropriate recreational activities that support therapeutic objectives.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to create comprehensive care plans that integrate drama therapy.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of therapy programs and modify them as necessary to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of patient progress and therapy sessions in compliance with healthcare regulations.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Drama Therapy, Creative Arts Therapy, or a related field.
  • Valid certification from a recognized drama therapy association (e.g., NADTA).
  • Experience working with diverse patient populations in clinical or institutional settings.
  • Strong understanding of psychological principles and therapeutic techniques.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and facilitation skills.
