Job Brief
As a Correctional Supervisor, you will play a critical role in overseeing the daily operations of correctional facilities. You will directly supervise and coordinate the activities of correctional officers and jailers, ensuring compliance with regulations and protocols. Your leadership will help maintain safety, security, and order within the facility, while fostering a professional environment that supports rehabilitation and correctional practices. Responsibilities
- Supervise and mentor correctional officers and jailers to ensure effective performance and adherence to policies.
- Monitor facility operations to maintain safety and security for inmates, staff, and visitors.
- Conduct regular inspections and assessments of security measures and procedures.
- Implement and enforce disciplinary actions and procedures as necessary.
- Coordinate training programs and development activities for correctional staff.
- Prepare and maintain accurate reports on incidents, inmate behavior, and staff performance.
- Collaborate with law enforcement and community organizations to ensure effective communication and support.
- Manage scheduling and staffing to ensure adequate coverage within the facility.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in criminal justice or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in correctional services or law enforcement.
- Strong knowledge of correctional policies, procedures, and legal regulations.
- Proven leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution abilities.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR, as well as additional relevant certifications (e.g., CPR Instructor, Defensive Tactics).
- Ability to pass background checks and maintain security clearance.
- Proficient in report writing and using correctional management software.
