Job Brief
The Corn Picker is responsible for the manual planting, cultivation, and harvesting of corn and other field crops. This role requires hands-on experience with agricultural tools and equipment, along with a strong understanding of crop management practices. Ideal candidates should possess physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Prior experience in agriculture or farming is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Manually plant, cultivate, and harvest corn and other field crops using hand tools such as shovels, trowels, and hoes.
- Till soil, apply fertilizers, and manage irrigation activities to ensure optimal crop growth.
- Transplant, weed, thin, and prune crops to promote healthy development and yield.
- Apply pesticides safely and effectively, adhering to agricultural safety standards.
- Clean, grade, sort, pack, and load harvested corn and other products for distribution.
- Construct and maintain agricultural structures such as trellises and fences as needed.
- Collaborate with team members to meet daily production goals and maintain a high standard of quality.
- Participate in seasonal activities and tasks, adjusting to the demands of the agricultural cycle.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; experience in agriculture or farming preferred.
- Familiarity with agricultural tools and machinery.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
- Basic understanding of crop management and agricultural practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and follow instructions effectively.
- Knowledge of safety procedures related to pesticide application and farm operations.
- Strong attention to detail and quality assurance in harvesting processes.
