Job Brief
As a Cartographic Technician, you will play a vital role in surveying and mapping activities, collaborating closely with engineers, surveyors, and cartographers to gather and analyze spatial data. Responsibilities
- Conduct surveying and mapping duties to collect spatial data for construction, mapmaking, and boundary location projects.
- Create detailed maps using various sources such as surveying notes, aerial imagery, and satellite data.
- Verify the accuracy and completeness of maps and other spatial data outputs.
- Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software to analyze and visualize geospatial data.
- Collaborate with engineers and surveyors to ensure project specifications are met.
- Process and interpret photogrammetric data for enhanced mapping accuracy.
- Maintain organized records of mapping projects and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Stay updated on the latest trends and technologies in cartography and geospatial analysis.
Requirements
- Associate degree in Cartography, Geography, Geospatial Technology, or a related field.
- Proficiency in GIS software applications such as ArcGIS or QGIS.
- Strong analytical skills and experience in data interpretation and visualization.
- Familiarity with surveying techniques and tools.
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality mapping outputs.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Effective communication skills to convey complex information clearly.
- Previous experience in a cartographic or geospatial role is preferred.
