Job Brief

The Building Mechanic plays a vital role in maintaining, repairing, and optimizing the functionality of various mechanical systems and structural components within a facility. This position requires a blend of skills in HVAC maintenance, plumbing, carpentry, welding, and electrical work. Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and emergency repairs on HVAC systems, plumbing, and mechanical equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Conduct inspections and diagnostics to identify issues with building structures, machinery, and systems.
  • Execute pipe fitting, insulation, welding, and carpentry tasks as needed to support building integrity and functionality.
  • Install, align, and balance new equipment components, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Repair and maintain building fixtures, including floors, stairs, and other structural elements.
  • Document maintenance and repair activities, maintaining accurate records for compliance and reporting purposes.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance staff and contractors to troubleshoot complex mechanical systems.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in a relevant field preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Building Mechanic or in a similar maintenance role, demonstrating proficiency in multiple trades.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and general construction practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required.
  • Certification in relevant trades (e.g., HVAC, plumbing) is a plus.
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor and handle heavy equipment safely.
