Job Brief
The Blade Grader Operator is responsible for operating various types of power construction equipment, including motor graders, bulldozers, and front-end loaders, to efficiently excavate, grade, and move earth. This role requires a skilled operator with a strong understanding of heavy machinery operation, excellent spatial awareness, and the ability to perform routine maintenance on equipment. Ideal candidates will have prior experience in construction or similar fields and demonstrate a commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
Responsibilities
- Operate motor graders and other heavy equipment to grade and level surfaces for construction projects.
- Excavate, move, and distribute earth materials in accordance with project specifications.
- Perform routine maintenance checks and repairs on assigned equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Collaborate with site supervisors and other team members to coordinate work activities.
- Maintain a safe work environment by following all safety protocols and regulations.
- Document daily work activities and equipment usage for reporting purposes.
- Adjust machine controls to regulate depth and angle of the grading blade.
- Identify and troubleshoot equipment issues, reporting them to maintenance personnel when necessary.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in heavy equipment operation preferred.
- Proven experience as a Blade Grader Operator or in a similar role within the construction industry.
- Valid driver’s license and relevant certifications for operating heavy machinery.
- Strong understanding of construction site safety practices and regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and physical environments.
