Job Brief
We are seeking a skilled Band Instrument Repair Technician to provide expert repair and maintenance services for various musical instruments, including percussion, stringed, reed, and wind instruments. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in diagnosing, repairing, and tuning instruments to ensure optimal performance. This role requires a strong attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for music. Experience in a specific area, such as piano tuning, is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and acoustic issues in band instruments.
- Perform routine maintenance and tune instruments to achieve optimal sound quality.
- Specialize in specific instrument types, including but not limited to woodwinds, brass, strings, and percussion.
- Utilize industry-standard tools and techniques for effective instrument repair.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs and services performed on each instrument.
- Collaborate with musicians to understand their needs and provide tailored repair solutions.
- Educate clients on instrument care and maintenance practices.
- Stay updated on new repair techniques and advancements in instrument technology.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Band Instrument Repair Technician or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of various musical instruments and their components.
- Familiarity with instrument repair tools and equipment.
- Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple repair tasks effectively.
- Strong communication skills to interact with clients and musicians.
- Relevant certifications in musical instrument repair or a related field are preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in music or instrument repair is a plus.
