Job Brief
As an Asbestos Remover, you will be responsible for identifying, safely removing, packing, transporting, and disposing of hazardous materials, specifically asbestos and other toxic substances. This role requires specialized training and certification in hazardous materials handling, including familiarity with confined space entry protocols. You will play a crucial role in maintaining safety and compliance within various environments, ensuring the proper handling of hazardous materials while operating necessary equipment.
Responsibilities
- Identify and assess asbestos-containing materials in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.
- Execute safe removal and disposal of hazardous materials, including asbestos, lead-based paint, and contaminated soil.
- Follow strict safety protocols and regulations to minimize exposure to hazardous substances.
- Operate earth-moving equipment and trucks for the transport of hazardous materials.
- Prepare and package hazardous waste according to regulatory standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring all safety equipment is utilized effectively.
- Document removal processes and maintain accurate records for compliance and safety audits.
- Collaborate with environmental specialists and other team members to ensure project success.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in environmental science or a related field is preferred.
- Specialized training and certification in hazardous materials handling.
- Valid confined space entry permit and relevant safety certifications.
- Proven experience in asbestos removal or similar hazardous material handling roles.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and environmental safety standards.
- Ability to operate heavy machinery and trucks safely and effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
