Job Brief

As a 911 Operator, you will play a critical role in public safety by operating communication systems to receive and relay emergency requests. Responsibilities

  • Receive emergency calls via telephone and radio, assessing the nature of the incident.
  • Gather essential information from callers to determine the appropriate response needed.
  • Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and medical personnel based on the urgency of the situation.
  • Provide clear instructions to callers, utilizing knowledge of emergency protocols.
  • Monitor and manage multiple communication channels simultaneously.
  • Access sensitive databases to retrieve information pertinent to emergencies.
  • Document all calls and actions taken in accordance with agency policies.
  • Coordinate with various emergency response agencies to ensure effective communication during incidents.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in emergency communication preferred.
  • Proven experience in a fast-paced, high-stress environment, preferably in emergency services.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with a strong ability to convey information clearly.
  • Familiarity with law enforcement, fire response, and emergency medical protocols.
  • Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions under pressure.
  • Proficiency in operating communication systems and technology.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
