I want to start by saying the staff was very friendly and helpful. The location is amazing and the outside is very nice and has a fun vibrant feel. The food and drinks were decent. Our room however was bad!! It had not been updated in over 20 years I’m guessing.Very outdated and run down! Dirty stained carpet, wallpaper bubbled and ripped, bed was hard, bathroom door had been kicked or punched in, floor lamp had at some point been knocked over the lamp shade was bent and the switch did not work, While using the sink the faucet handle broke off.Maintenance replaced it after several hours. Leaving the carpet underneath the sink all wet. The toilet handle had to be jiggled every time you used it or it would keep running water. The shampoo, conditioner and body wash dispensers in the shower were empty, Nothing else left in the room other than one tiny bar of hand soap. Shower head was very old and plugged up with hard water deposits. Caliente Tropics could be something really great with some updates to the rooms. Definitely more of a party place than a place to go and relax. Loud guests that were drunk and obnoxious.

I really wanted to like this place. I’m writing this review in hopes it helps the hotel improve and create a better experience for future guests. The Good: The hotel is clearly older, but ownership puts effort into keeping it looking nice. The landscaping is well-kept, the pool area is clean, and the outdoor furniture is in good shape. The pool is definitely the highlight and gives the property a charming touch. The Not-So-Good: The rooms have a strong musty smell that makes them feel more old than vintage. The staff is helpful but not warm or welcoming—no smiles, no personal touch, which is disappointing in a small hotel. One frustrating policy is that you have to go to the front desk to get pool towels, and you’re warned that you’ll be charged if you don’t return them. It feels petty, and policies like that can really take away from the relaxing experience guests are looking for. There was also no shampoo in the refillable containers, which made it seem like the room hadn’t been thoroughly checked or cleaned. The biggest issue for me was security. There’s a back entrance to the property that seems to be used by individuals as a shortcut, even walking through the grounds and asking guests for things. It didn’t feel dangerous, but it did feel unprotected and uncomfortable at night, especially with no visible security around. It makes you feel like your car can be broken into while you’re sleeping. We didn’t stay long. With a few simple changes, this place could be much better. I hope the owners take this to heart—it has potential, but the guest experience needs work.

This hotel was a great find. The rooms were clean and pool area was lovely. The staff were pleasant but Ritchie the sever at the weekend was what made this a 5 star review.. attentive and friendly to all guests while working on his own on a busy weekend. The management should fully appreciate that this one sever is what made this a 5 star review instead of a 4 star review.
