Job Brief
The Wildland Fire Operations Specialist is responsible for enforcing fire regulations, inspecting forest areas for potential fire hazards, and recommending effective fire prevention and control measures. Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough inspections of forested areas to identify fire hazards and risks.
- Enforce local, state, and federal fire regulations to ensure compliance.
- Recommend and implement fire prevention strategies and control measures.
- Monitor and report on forest fire conditions and weather patterns.
- Collaborate with local fire departments and emergency services during fire incidents.
- Prepare detailed reports on fire inspections and incidents for regulatory purposes.
- Conduct fire risk assessments and develop management plans.
- Provide training and guidance to staff and volunteers on fire safety and response protocols.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Forestry, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in wildland fire operations or forest management.
- Certifications in wildland firefighting, such as S-130 and S-190.
- Strong knowledge of fire behavior, suppression techniques, and safety protocols.
- Proficient in using fire management software and tools for data analysis.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with diverse teams.
- Ability to work in physically demanding and outdoor environments.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as needed for fire response activities.
