Job Brief
As a Venipuncturist, you will be responsible for performing venipuncture to collect blood samples for tests, transfusions, donations, or research purposes. This role requires a high level of patient interaction, including explaining procedures and maintaining patient comfort. Successful candidates will possess excellent technical skills, a strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage any adverse reactions during the blood collection process. Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary blood collections with precision and care.
- Explain procedures to patients and address any concerns to ensure comfort and cooperation.
- Monitor patients during and after blood collection for adverse reactions.
- Label and handle blood samples according to strict protocols and safety guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records of blood collection and patient information.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and procedures.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure quality patient care.
- Assist in training new staff on venipuncture techniques and protocols.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; certification in phlebotomy preferred.
- Proven experience as a Venipuncturist or in a similar role within a healthcare setting.
- Strong knowledge of venipuncture techniques and blood collection protocols.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient interaction.
- Ability to manage stressful situations and maintain patient safety.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and laboratory procedures.
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) may be required.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
