Job Brief
The Tow Truck Dispatcher is responsible for efficiently scheduling and dispatching tow truck operators and service vehicles for the prompt conveyance of vehicles, materials, or passengers. This role requires strong organizational and communication skills, as well as proficiency in using radio, telephone, or computer systems to transmit assignments. Ideal candidates will possess previous experience in dispatch operations and demonstrate the ability to compile statistics and reports on work progress.
Responsibilities
- Schedule and dispatch tow trucks and service vehicles based on customer requests and priority of service.
- Monitor and manage the location and status of tow truck operators using GPS and dispatch software.
- Communicate effectively with drivers to relay assignments and provide updates on service requests.
- Compile and maintain accurate records of all dispatch activities and service requests.
- Respond promptly to emergency service requests, prioritizing urgent situations to ensure timely assistance.
- Coordinate with management to optimize routes and improve operational efficiency.
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries and resolving issues related to dispatch operations.
- Utilize various communication methods, including radio, telephone, and computer systems, to ensure seamless operations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in logistics or transportation management is a plus.
- Proven experience in dispatching, preferably within the towing or transportation industry.
- Strong knowledge of dispatch software and GPS tracking systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Familiarity with local roadways and traffic patterns is highly advantageous.
