Job Brief
As a Telegraph and Teletype Operator, you will be responsible for transmitting and receiving messages using telecommunication equipment. This role requires proficiency in Morse code and the operation of teletype machines. You will ensure the accurate and timely delivery of information and maintain communication logs. Ideal candidates will possess strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and experience in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Operate telecommunication equipment to send and receive messages efficiently.
- Translate Morse code and other forms of communication into readable formats.
- Maintain and troubleshoot telegraph and teletype machinery to ensure optimal performance.
- Record and log all communications accurately for reference and reporting.
- Coordinate with other operators to facilitate seamless communication.
- Adhere to safety protocols and company policies regarding communication practices.
- Provide technical support and training to new operators as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; further education in telecommunications is a plus.
- Proficient in Morse code and skilled in operating telegraph and teletype machines.
- Strong technical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
- Prior experience in telecommunications or a related field is preferred.
- Familiarity with modern communication technologies is an advantage.
