Job Brief
The Highway Maintenance Crew Worker plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and functionality of highways, municipal and rural roads, and airport runways. This position involves performing essential maintenance tasks such as patching damaged pavement, repairing guard rails, and maintaining highway markers and snow fences. Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of highways, roads, and airport runways to identify necessary repairs.
- Patch broken or eroded pavement to enhance road safety and functionality.
- Repair and maintain guard rails, highway markers, and snow fences to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Mow grass and clear brush along roadways to improve visibility and accessibility.
- Operate snow plows and other equipment during winter weather to maintain safe driving conditions.
- Assist in the installation of traffic signs and other safety features.
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently and effectively.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and materials used.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in road maintenance or construction is a plus.
- Proven experience in highway maintenance, construction, or a related field.
- Familiarity with road maintenance equipment, tools, and safety protocols.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; commercial driver’s license (CDL) preferred.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physical labor.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
