Job Brief
The Highway Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, and overseeing the construction and maintenance of highways and related infrastructure. This role requires expertise in civil engineering principles, project management, and a strong understanding of traffic engineering and geotechnical analysis. Responsibilities
- Design and develop highway systems and facilities, ensuring adherence to local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct feasibility studies, traffic analyses, and environmental impact assessments for highway projects.
- Oversee construction activities, ensuring they meet design specifications and quality standards.
- Collaborate with architects, urban planners, and other engineering disciplines to create comprehensive project plans.
- Utilize advanced engineering software for modeling and simulations to optimize highway designs.
- Prepare and present technical reports, proposals, and project documentation to stakeholders and government agencies.
- Manage project budgets and timelines, ensuring efficient use of resources and timely completion.
- Evaluate and mitigate risks associated with highway projects, implementing safety measures throughout all phases.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure within the required timeframe.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in highway engineering or related infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other design tools.
- Strong analytical skills and experience with geotechnical engineering principles.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of current industry trends, technologies, and best practices in highway engineering.
- Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality standards.
