Job Brief
As a Hand Weaver, you will be responsible for creating and assembling textiles using traditional weaving techniques. Responsibilities
- Operate hand looms to weave textiles according to design specifications and patterns.
- Prepare and maintain weaving materials, ensuring quality and consistency throughout production.
- Sew, join, and finish woven items using needle and thread to enhance durability and aesthetics.
- Inspect finished products for quality assurance, identifying any defects or inconsistencies.
- Collaborate with designers and other artisans to develop new patterns and textile designs.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace to promote safety and efficiency.
- Stay updated on industry trends and techniques to continuously improve weaving skills.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a hand weaver or in a related textile production role.
- Strong knowledge of various weaving techniques and materials.
- Familiarity with sewing and finishing processes to enhance textile quality.
- Ability to read and interpret design specifications and patterns accurately.
- Attention to detail and a strong aesthetic sense to ensure high-quality craftsmanship.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Certification in textile arts or related field is preferred but not mandatory.
