Job Brief
The Groundwater Monitoring Technician is responsible for collecting and organizing vital data related to the distribution and circulation of groundwater and surface water. This role involves measuring flow rates, monitoring groundwater levels, and conducting fieldwork to collect water samples. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of hydrology and environmental science, along with experience in maintaining field equipment and preparing samples for laboratory testing. Responsibilities
- Collect and organize data on groundwater levels, flow rates, and water quality parameters.
- Measure and report on the physical, chemical, and biological properties of groundwater and surface water.
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot field equipment used for groundwater monitoring.
- Collect water samples according to established protocols for laboratory analysis.
- Process and prepare samples for shipment to testing laboratories.
- Collaborate with hydrologists, engineers, and other professionals to support various environmental and agricultural projects.
- Document findings and maintain accurate records of field activities and data collected.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and safety standards during field operations.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in environmental science, geology, hydrology, or a related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience in groundwater monitoring or environmental fieldwork.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data accurately.
- Proficiency in using groundwater monitoring equipment and tools.
- Familiarity with environmental regulations and best practices.
- Effective communication skills for reporting and collaboration.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to various field sites.
