Job Brief
The Grain Elevator Operator is responsible for controlling and tending conveyors and conveyor systems to efficiently move grains and other materials to and from stockpiles, processing stations, and vehicles. This role requires a keen understanding of grain handling processes, as well as experience in operating heavy machinery. Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor conveyor systems to facilitate the movement of grain and materials.
- Control the speed and routing of materials to optimize operational efficiency.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on conveyors and associated equipment.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards during operations.
- Coordinate with team members to maintain workflow and address any operational issues.
- Document grain handling activities, including inventory levels and equipment performance.
- Assist in loading and unloading materials from trucks and storage facilities.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant technical certification preferred.
- Proven experience as a Grain Elevator Operator or in a similar role within the agricultural industry.
- Familiarity with grain handling equipment and conveyor systems.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures in grain handling operations.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions and shift work as required.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
