Job Brief
As a Geriatric Personal Care Aide, you will provide essential support to elderly individuals or those with disabilities, ensuring their comfort and well-being. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting with daily living activities such as bathing, grooming, and feeding, as well as offering companionship and emotional support. Ideal candidates should possess a compassionate nature, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for those in their care. Previous experience in personal care or a related field is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with personal care tasks, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Support mobility and ambulation to ensure safety and independence.
- Prepare meals and assist with dietary needs based on individual preferences and health requirements.
- Perform light housekeeping duties, including laundry and maintaining a clean living environment.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the client’s quality of life.
- Document care provided and report any changes in the client’s condition to supervisors or family members.
- Accompany clients to appointments, social activities, or community events as needed.
- Adhere to safety and hygiene protocols to ensure a safe care environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in geriatric care is a plus.
- Proven experience as a personal care aide, caregiver, or similar role.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with clients and their families.
- Ability to assist with physical tasks and provide mobility support.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is preferred.
- Knowledge of basic nutrition and meal preparation.
- Compassionate, patient, and dependable with a genuine interest in caring for the elderly.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
