Job Brief
The Gas Storage Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of gas storage facilities, including the management of steam-, gas-, electric motor-, and internal combustion-engine driven compressors. This role requires expertise in transmitting, compressing, and recovering various gases such as butane, nitrogen, hydrogen, and natural gas. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in gas operations, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor compressors and associated equipment to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
- Perform regular inspections and maintenance of gas storage systems to prevent leaks and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Manage the transmission, compression, and recovery processes for various gases, ensuring accurate measurement and reporting.
- Respond to alarms and emergency situations promptly, executing emergency response protocols as necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of operations, including production data and maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to troubleshoot and resolve operational issues.
- Adhere to industry safety standards and company policies to promote a culture of safety within the workplace.
- Participate in training programs to stay updated on industry best practices and technological advancements.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training in gas operations or related field preferred.
- Proven experience in gas storage operations or similar role within the energy sector.
- Strong understanding of compressor systems and gas transmission processes.
- Ability to operate gas-related equipment safely and effectively in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills with attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Certification in safety and environmental regulations related to gas operations is a plus.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends as required.
