The Gas Main Fitter Helper assists skilled tradespeople such as plumbers, pipefitters, steamfitters, and pipelayers by performing essential support tasks in gas main installation and maintenance. Responsibilities
- Assist skilled tradespeople by supplying tools and materials necessary for gas main installation and repair.
- Hold and position materials and equipment to aid in the assembly of piping systems.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to promote safety and efficiency.
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with industry regulations.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment used in gas main installation.
- Support team members in the execution of plumbing tasks, ensuring quality work is completed on schedule.
- Participate in training and skill development initiatives to improve technical abilities and knowledge of the trade.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant vocational training is a plus.
- Basic understanding of plumbing and piping systems, with a willingness to learn.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting heavy materials.
- Familiarity with safety practices and regulations in construction and plumbing.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Valid driver’s license may be required for travel to job sites.
- Previous experience in a construction or plumbing-related role is advantageous, but not mandatory.
