Job Brief

As a Gage Designer, you will be responsible for developing precise working diagrams of machinery and mechanical devices. This role requires a strong understanding of dimensional analysis, fastening methods, and engineering principles. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in gage design, proficiency in CAD software, and a detail-oriented mindset. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet functional specifications and industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed working diagrams for gages, fixtures, and other mechanical devices.
  • Conduct dimensional analysis and ensure adherence to engineering specifications.
  • Utilize CAD software to create and modify design drawings accurately.
  • Collaborate with engineers and production teams to optimize designs for manufacturability.
  • Evaluate design feasibility and provide innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges.
  • Prepare documentation and reports to communicate design specifications and changes.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements in all designs.
  • Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback to enhance product quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in gage design, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA).
  • Strong knowledge of engineering principles and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Familiarity with quality control standards and practices is a plus.
