Job Brief
The Funeral Greeter plays a crucial role in providing compassionate support and guidance to families during their time of loss. This position involves overseeing various tasks related to funeral services, including preparing the casket, arranging floral tributes, directing mourners, and ensuring a respectful atmosphere throughout the service. Ideal candidates will possess excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.
Responsibilities
- Prepare the casket and set up the chapel or parlor for the service, ensuring a dignified presentation.
- Arrange floral offerings, lighting, and other decor around the casket to create a comforting environment.
- Direct and escort mourners to their seats, providing assistance as needed.
- Close the casket appropriately at the conclusion of the service, maintaining a respectful demeanor.
- Issue and store funeral equipment, ensuring all items are accounted for and in good condition.
- Provide general support to grieving families, answering questions and offering assistance during the service.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the funeral home and service areas.
- Collaborate with funeral directors and staff to ensure a seamless service experience.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in funeral services is a plus.
- Previous experience in customer service or a related field preferred, particularly in a funeral or healthcare setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to provide compassionate support.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Basic knowledge of funeral service protocols and etiquette.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.
- Physical ability to handle lifting and moving of equipment and caskets.
- Valid driver’s license may be required for transportation duties.
