Job Brief
As a Floor Finisher, you will be responsible for preparing and finishing various types of flooring surfaces, particularly wooden floors. This role involves scraping and sanding to achieve a smooth finish using specialized equipment, followed by the application of finish coats to enhance durability and appearance. Ideal candidates will possess strong attention to detail, a solid understanding of flooring materials, and experience in using floor sanding machines.
Responsibilities
- Scrape and sand wooden floors to smooth surfaces using floor scrapers and sanding machines.
- Apply stains, sealers, and topcoats to finished flooring for protection and aesthetic enhancement.
- Inspect and assess flooring conditions to determine necessary repairs and treatments.
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, repairing, and ensuring proper moisture levels before finishing.
- Maintain and operate floor finishing equipment safely and effectively.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure project timelines and quality standards are met.
- Follow safety protocols and regulations to ensure a secure working environment.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing client inquiries and concerns regarding flooring projects.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Floor Finisher or similar role in the flooring industry.
- Strong knowledge of various floor finishing techniques and materials.
- Familiarity with floor sanding machines and other finishing equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and project specifications.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy materials as required.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in flooring or finishing preferred.
