Job Brief
The Fixed Wing Aircraft Crew Chief plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of fixed wing aircraft during critical missions, including combat, reconnaissance, transport, and search and rescue. This position requires extensive experience in aircraft operations and maintenance, with a strong emphasis on in-flight duties, equipment inspections, and operational protocols. Essential skills include proficiency in operating aircraft communications and detection systems, maintaining weapons and defensive systems, and executing emergency procedures.
Responsibilities
- Conduct preflight, in-flight, and postflight inspections of onboard equipment to ensure operational readiness.
- Operate and maintain aircraft communications and detection equipment, establishing satellite linkages as necessary.
- Manage and operate aircraft weapons and defensive systems to support mission objectives.
- Execute in-flight refueling operations and maintain associated systems for safe fuel transfer.
- Compute and verify passenger, cargo, fuel, and special equipment weight and balance data for safe flight operations.
- Execute aircraft safety and emergency procedures to respond effectively during in-flight incidents.
- Perform cargo and personnel drops with precision to meet mission requirements.
- Collaborate with flight crews and ground personnel to ensure seamless mission execution.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant technical training or certification in aviation maintenance is preferred.
- Proven experience as a Fixed Wing Aircraft Crew Chief or similar role in military or civilian aviation.
- Strong knowledge of aircraft systems, maintenance protocols, and safety regulations.
- Certification in aircraft operations, communication systems, and weapons systems is highly desirable.
- Ability to work under pressure and in high-stress environments during critical missions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail in operational procedures.
- Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members and flight crews.
