Job Brief
As a Fishing Boat Captain, you will lead fishing expeditions, ensuring the safe and efficient gathering of aquatic resources. Responsibilities
- Operate and navigate fishing vessels to designated fishing locations.
- Oversee and execute fishing operations, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
- Utilize fishing gear such as nets, traps, and lines to catch aquatic species effectively.
- Monitor weather and sea conditions to ensure safe fishing practices.
- Manage crew members, providing training and guidance in fishing techniques and safety measures.
- Maintain fishing equipment and vessel, ensuring readiness for expeditions.
- Document catch data and maintain compliance with local and federal fishing regulations.
- Assist in the unloading and processing of catch, ensuring quality control.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications preferred.
- Proven experience as a Fishing Boat Captain or in a related maritime role.
- Strong knowledge of marine navigation, weather patterns, and fishing techniques.
- Valid captain’s license and certifications in first aid and CPR.
- Ability to operate fishing vessels and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Physical stamina and ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
- Understanding of fishery management and sustainability practices.
