Job Brief
The Fire Equipment Operator is responsible for controlling and extinguishing fires, as well as responding to emergency situations that threaten life, property, or the environment. Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain firefighting equipment, including fire engines, hoses, and extinguishers.
- Respond promptly to fire alarms and emergency calls, assessing the situation to execute effective firefighting strategies.
- Conduct fire prevention inspections and risk assessments in various environments.
- Provide emergency medical services as required, including first aid and CPR to those in need.
- Assist in hazardous material response and containment during emergency situations.
- Engage in search and rescue operations, ensuring the safety of trapped individuals.
- Participate in ongoing training and drills to maintain skills and knowledge of fire safety protocols.
- Collaborate with other emergency response teams and agencies during large-scale incidents.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in fire science or emergency management is a plus.
- Valid firefighter certification and emergency medical technician (EMT) certification.
- Proven experience in fire fighting, emergency response, or related fields.
- Strong physical fitness and ability to perform strenuous tasks in emergency conditions.
- Knowledge of fire safety regulations, hazardous materials, and emergency response procedures.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with other emergency personnel.
- Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions under pressure.
