The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Driver plays a crucial role in the healthcare system, responsible for safely transporting sick, injured, or convalescent individuals to medical facilities. Responsibilities
- Operate ambulances and other emergency vehicles in a safe and efficient manner.
- Assist in the transport of patients, ensuring their comfort and safety during transit.
- Collaborate with emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and paramedics to provide essential patient care.
- Perform vehicle inspections and routine maintenance checks to ensure operational readiness.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and emergency response protocols during transport.
- Assist in lifting and moving patients using proper techniques to minimize injury.
- Document transport details, including patient conditions and any incidents during transit.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the ambulance and equipment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in emergency medical services is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; certification as an EMS driver preferred.
- Knowledge of emergency response procedures and protocols.
- Ability to lift and maneuver patients safely and effectively.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- CPR and First Aid certification; additional emergency medical certifications are advantageous.
- Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions in high-pressure situations.
- Experience in emergency medical services or a related field is preferred.
